Fredericksburg, TX. March 4, 2008 -–On March 14 & 15, 2008 Texas’ Oldest & Grandest Auction, now in it’s 33rd year, will showcase over 200 of the finest classics cars to be auctioned. Sponsored by Dan Kruse Classics, the Hill Country Classic Collector Car Auction will again be held at the Fredericksburg Event Center in Fredericksburg, TX. Along with the auction, a rock and roll concert with Johnny D and the Rocket 88’s will be held Friday night and a special car show will be available on Saturday. And this year the auction will debut Auction Network who will be onsite providing live internet bidding and filming for an upcoming television program to be aired online on demand an on the Dish Network.
Records for attendance, consigned cars and prices were broken at the fall event held last September. With the addition of Auction Network, buyers unable to attend the auction can bid from home at www.auctionnetwork.com. “I am very honored to have Auction Network as part of our team,” explained Daniel J. Internet presence for this auction is a great complement to this year’s event and I am happy to have them on board.” Friday’s auction begins at 3pm with an array of memorabilia collectibles and classic cars and will end with a special concert by Johnny D and the Rocket 88’s. The band performs a brand of zany nostalgia and fast-paced medleys and has performed for U.S. presidents, international royalty, Governor’s Balls and are most recently known for their award-winning commercials as part of the “Don’t Mess With Texas” campaign. The Friday night concert is being sponsored by Street Dreams of Fredericksburg. The San Antonio Mustang Club will conduct the car show in conjunction with the auction on Saturday. The vehicles in the show will showcase many spectacular classics.
This year’s auction will feature a wide array of classics of all makes and models. Notable vehicles include a 1934 Plymouth Coupe selling at No Reserve. It is an original V-6, three-speed transmission in great condition. Also up for auction a No Reserve is a 1947 Packard Clipper with believed original 69,000 miles with rebuilt six-cylinder with overdrive, radio, heater and original paint. Another great find is a 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 with a J2 optioned 371 cu in engine with 300 HP and a just completed frame-off restoration. There is also a rare 1967 Sunbeam Tiger Roadster, with a 260 cid V-8 engine, 164 HP, four speed, rack and pinion and front disc brakes and an awesome 1970 Chevrolet Malibu SS 396 convertible with a 396 V-8 engine with 350 HP whose frame-off restoration was just completed in December.
Preview of the auction begins Friday, March 14 at noon, with vehicles and special collectibles to be sold beginning at 3pm immediately followed by the concert. The auction is open to the public. Bidders must register and be qualified by auction house. Advance tickets for the two-day auction are $15. (Regular price is $15 for Friday auction and concert and $10 for Saturday auction.)
