Sydney, AUS, June 15, 2008 — Following a remarkable response to their advertising campaign Bonhams & Goodman have decided to postpone their inaugural New Zealand Collector’s Motor Cars sale – and for the best of reasons: “We knew we would get some outstanding cars coming in,” states Tim Evill, Head of Collector’s Cars for NZL. “But frankly, we have been overwhelmed by exactly HOW outstanding they are, and they are still coming in!”
He goes on to say that “because of the quality of the cars we have been offered and due to the quantity, we felt we could not do true justice to classics of this standard in the somewhat tight time frame we originally planned. So we have chosen to move the sale to September 14th to give us ample time to do the job to the standard that is expected of Bonhams.” This move will allow Bonhams & Goodman to promote this important sale on a worldwide stage.
‘Whilst we knew all along that there are some exciting cars in New Zealand as well as knowledgeable owners, I have been blown away by the hugely welcoming and positive response we have had to the sale from the outset…” comments Robert Glover, National Head of Collectors’ Cars at Bonhams and Goodman, Australia. “I recently spent a week in New Zealand with my colleagues, Tim Evill and Keith Abbott who have between them sourced cars that would be the envy of many an international auction. Indeed the venue that Tim has sourced for the sale could not be better suited to the sale.”
Of the cars that have already been consigned to the September sale, arguably the most exciting is a London to Brighton Run eligible De Dion Bouton 3½ hp that is believed to have had just four owners from new!
