Bonhams brings black ties and collector cars to an evening auction at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance on September 5 in Chantilly, France.
The Arts & Elegance event debuted in 2014 on the grounds of Château de Chantilly. A crowd of around 10,000 took in the delights of the Concours d’Elegance competition for modern concept cars and the Concours d’Etat for classic cars from around the world. Publisher Martin has been invited to return as a judge and is looking forward to the concours and the new auction.
The event also plays host to fine art exhibitions, fashion shows, live music, lifestyle exhibits and equestrian activities. Chantilly is home to Chantilly Racecourse and the Living Museum of the Horse, in addition to boasting the largest racehorse-training community in France.
“We’re delighted to announce this brand new and exclusive motoring sale, taking place on the luxurious grounds of the Château de Chantilly. The event perfectly complements the motoring auction calendar, and will offer an additional sale for our European clientele,” said Philip Kantor, Bonhams European Head of Motorcars.
“The concept is to offer a bespoke ‘salon’ style auction, offering a limited number of very fine examples of collectors’ motor cars, perhaps thirty or so carefully selected lots for the ‘black tie’ evening auction. Our partner, Peter Auto, has embarked on an innovative approach with Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille, creating a new style of Concours, and Bonhams is delighted to be part of it.”
Patrick Peter, President of Peter Auto, said: “Bonhams is famous the world over for its auctions, in particular those featuring collectors cars, so we’re delighted that this renowned company will associate itself with our Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille event in addition to its presence at Spa Classic. The organisation of such a sale in September in Chantilly confirms the momentum generated by the event only a year after it was held for the first time.”
