ACC’s staff just returned from a week in the desert, just in time to build our Arizona results issue. By now the auctions have all ended, but numbers are still tricking in as post-block deals come together.

We’re working on our complete coverage of the Scottsdale and Kissimmee weeks now — you’ll be able to read our complete analysis in the March/April 2019 issue of American Car Collector, due out in February. In the meantime, here are some of my favorite shots from this past week in Arizona.

Bidders check out a ’63 Impala convertible, lining up for its time on the Barrett-Jackson auction block.

This ’65 Mustang fastback takes a roll through lunch row on its way back to the big preview tent. It sold on Friday for $90,200.

The Gary Sinise Foundation auctioned a 1981 Jeep CJ7 to benefit veterans, defenders, and first responders in need. Built by Gas Monkey Garage, it brought a total of $1.31m at Barrett-Jackson, with 100% of the hammer price going to the foundation.

If historic hot rods are your thing, the 1948 Spurgin-Giovanine roadster brought $212,800 at Gooding & Co. It was a Hot Rod Magazine cover car in 1949. Look for more on this car in the next ACC.

RM Sotheby’s sold this decked-out Korean War Willys M38 for a grand total of $67,200.

A pretty pair: A 1934 Packard Eight 2/4-passenger coupe sits ready for its time on the block next to a ’70 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda at RM Sotheby’s. The Packard made $100,800, while the ’Cuda made $173,800.

Trucks were (again) all the rage at Barrett-Jackson, and this K20 was a high-water mark at $125k. Cue the hoards of ex-owners lamenting their previous sales (myself included).

How about a World’s Fair engine display with a cut-out 396/425 big block? $165,000, again at Barrett-Jackson.

If Ford GTs are your thing, Scottsdale was the place to be. Here, nine were aligned, joined by a Boss 429 for good measure.
