Las Vegas, NV-While TPC the Canyons is hosting its annual PGA golf tournament, owners of fine cars including examples of prewar, European sport and exotic, muscle and more are
preparing their rolling works of art to display on the TPC green next weekend at the inaugural Concours d’Elegance Las Vegas.
Period correct cars will be judged within designated classes for quality and originality, competing for awards such as Best in Class and Best in Show.
Numerous concours events are held around the country each year. The most popular is the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance which draws visitors from around the world and showcases the finest examples of automobiles. Las Vegas now has an annual concours to call their own.
Entrants will participate in myriad activities, including a welcome reception at Las Vegas Country Club followed by cruise up the strip on Friday evening, a driving tour to Red Rock Canyon on Saturday morning and several stand-alone charity events such as Dine-in-the-Desert, a $300.00-per-plate dinner under the stars at TPC the Canyons featuring 10 renowned Las Vegas chefs and an auction.
Sunday offers a morning charity golf tournament followed by the Concours d’Elegance 10:00am to 4:00pm. Motorcars from the famed Nethercutt collection will be on display including award-winning we examples of Lincoln, Knox, Maybach, Ruxton and Pierce Arrow.
The Imperial Palace Auto Collection will have a rare Duesenberg on display and Unique Movie Cars will be
represented by several cars including a left-hand drive Aston Martin registered to the late Bing Crosby and a 1964 Cadillac El Dorado used in 48 hours and Problem Child 11.
The lineup further includes examples of Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Thunderbird, Rolls-Royce, Corvette, Mustang. Also expected is a showing of 16 Lancia traveling across the United States that will Arrive in Las Vegas on Sunday. The Honorary Chairman is George Barris, designer of movie cars
such as the original Batmobile.
Spectators will enjoy an elegant automotive art exhibit and vendor booths. Also in place is a special live eBay Motors charity auction of several cars such as a Jaguar 1957 XK140 MC. While many people will bid worldwide from their computers, others will bid from computer kiosks at the
eBay Motors concours booth where auction cars will be on display. eBay Motors is happy to teach spectators about the process and encourage participation. Proceeds from the sale support the event charities.
